19. Like most Southerners with a garden, we grew HOT peppers.

My dad crunched on them raw. My stepmother put them up in vinegar. Dad was a meat eater, so greens, beans, fried okra were on the table in the summer months. It was great going to the farmer's market. We put away bushels of fresh things for the winter.
