6. I don't use my dishwasher because I can smell the residue of the strong detergent

on the dishes. I looked up homemade dishwasher detergent and found 'recipes' that say to use 1 tablespoon borax (20 Mule team borax in the laundry aisle of the grocery store) to 1 tablespoon of baking soda. I haven't tried it yet, but have Borax on my shopping list. If a film remains on glasses, add vinegar or citric acid which is sold for canning.
