(36,063 posts)Sure it won't matter to me then. But the thought of doing it while I am alive projects so much indignity that I find it personally abhorrent.
Additionally while I don't have a problem with donating tissue, I think organ transplants are biased to those who can finance them, and consequently undemocratic. In the next ~5 years when my body will become available, I don't expect that to get better so I've nixed both receiving and donating organs in my end of life directives to my power of attorney for health-care.
I rather like the idea of returning to the elemental cycles of star-stuff in a dignified, hygienic, environmentally friendly manner, and I know just the teen-aged oak-tree in whose dripline I'd like to work my re-entry into the natural cycle of star-stuff.
