Going to be interesting how this plays out. Because he was not attempting to detain or arrest the victim the Officer involved will not have the protection set forth by the Supreme Court prohibiting prosecutors or defendants from questioning his intentions, motives, or past involvement.

The fact that he and every other officer has had those protection has only emboldened this one officer to believe he could get away with any thing
