Despite growing up in a house where we all went to church until we were old enough to make up our own minds about it (lasted until I was about 7 or 8, I think - maybe a little older), and having a mother who teaches sunday school, a lot of Christian references are lost on me

I really am surprised to the extent that Christian mythology (definitely not ideology though) permeates America. For me, it's Star Wars - that's what I was really brought up on. Some bible quote? I won't get it. "These aren't the droids you're looking for," on the other hand, has a lot of meaning. "TK-421, do you copy?"
