8. The empirical evidence is quite clear.

Every country that adopted "socialism" (which did vary widely from place to place) became an economic basket case. The comparison of the Koreas or the Germanys is the closest we will get to a sociological "twins separated at birth" experiment.

Had the USSR invaded and conquered Hokkaido in WW2 and established one more socialist state, I have no doubt the outcome would have been the same.
