I realize they are necessary, but the human cost associated with them is often very painful indeed. They're always fraught with emotion--it's hard to be dispassionate when you're ripping the livelihood out from under people, and with brute force changing the nature of local communities.

Glad I don't have to deal with that shit anymore.
