3. My first thought as well

Let's not spend money now to update our infrastructure, which is beyond its life expectancy in many areas, let's delay it so something can fail, which will cost more to fix.

Just ignore the aging water lines, crumbling bridges, outdated power grid, and keep filling in the potholes on roads and highways, because we can't afford to fix them. However, we can afford to subsidize oil companies with corporate welfare, even though they'd still make hundreds of millions in profits each quarter.

Let's not spend money on infrastructure now while interest rates are low, because it would put people to work, increase the tax base, and help our economy while also improving things that desperately need it. We've got to make sure the multi-millionaires get to keep more of their money, because they do so much good with it...why, they've created millions of new jobs over the last decade with all the tax cuts...

Oh, wait...that didn't happen. It's just insane that we ignore things that can be public safety issues so that we can support big corporations and the wealthy with hand outs. They hate food stamps, welfare, unemployment...yet they get money from the government as well, so what's the difference?

(The difference is they're the ones getting it, and not someone else.)
