except the good conduct medal. Don't get in trouble for 5 years and get one of those things...

humanitarian service medal was never issued when I was in Iraq. You got an ARCOM, ARCOM-V, BSM, BSM-V, Silver Star, or Distinguished Service Cross (one of those was awarded from my company in Fallujah) - and you only got medals for killing people or dying. I lost a Bradley Fighting Vehicle and 5 of the 7 guys in it were killed. The two guys who lived through the ordeal were awarded ARCOMs while the 5 guys who died all received BSMs. The only difference between the actions of the two groups was that one of the groups lived and the other died.
