BIG BEAR An LAPD official has confirmed to KTLA that a body found inside a burned out cabin in Big Bear is believed to be that of accused cop-killer Christopher Dorner.
Authorities are in the process of removing his body from the cabin.
The fugitive former officer had been holed up in the cabin for several hours on Tuesday afternoon.
At one point, police broke windows, pumped in tear gas and blasted a loud speaker urging Dorner to surrender.

The six-day manhunt for accused killer Christopher Dorner took a dramatic turn Tuesday when the suspect got into a shootout with authorities, according to law enforcement sources.
Details were sketchy. But the sources said that Dorner burglarized a home in the Big Bear area, tied up a couple and stole their car.
During the gun battle, two police officers were wounded. Their conditions were unknown. A state Fish and Game official was also shot at, sources said.
Four local schools are on lockdown.

A local CBS reporter was caught in a huge police firefight with suspected killer Christopher Dorner on Tuesday.
Dorner, who is alleged to have killed at least three people, is in Big Bear, California, on the run from authorities.
Carter Evans, who works for KCBS and KCAL was with police, and the station stayed with him on the phone as he reported the situation. Gunfire could be heard throughout.
"It certainly sounds like a lot of gunfire," the station's anchor said to Evans

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Two law enforcement officers are being airlifted to a local hospital with unknown injuries after a shootout in the Big Bear area with a suspect believed to be Chris Dorner.
Authorities say deputies working the Big Bear area in their search for Dorner responded to the 1200 block of Club View Drive for a reported stolen vehicle by a man matching Dorner's description. Deputies immediately began a search of the area.
The vehicle was located at Highway 38 and Glass Road a short time later. The suspect fled into the forest on foot and barricaded himself inside a cabin. There was an exchange of gunfire between law enforcement and the suspect, wounding two officers.
It is believed the suspect has barricaded himself in a cabin. Expect closures on highways 38, 330 and 18 due to the investigation.

On Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at 12:22 p.m, deputies working the Big Bear area search for Christopher Dorner responded to the 1200 block of Club View Dr. for a reported stolen vehicle. The reporting party said the suspect took their vehicle and described the suspect as looking very similar to Dorner. Deputies immediately began a search on the ground and from the air for the vehicle.
The vehicle was located at Hwy. 38 and Glass Rd. The suspect fled into the forest and barricaded himself inside a cabin. A short time later there was an exchange of gunfire between law enforcement and the suspect. Sheriffs SWAT is onscene.
