Abortion opponents tie woman's death to Nebraska doctor [View all]

A New York woman's death has put LeRoy Carhart, Nebraska's controversial abortion doctor, back in the national spotlight.
Abortion opponents claim a 29-year-old kindergarten teacher died after undergoing a procedure at Carhart's clinic in Germantown, Maryland. He also operates clinics in Bellevue.
Carhart could not be reached for comment Monday afternoon.
Bruce Goldfarb, a spokesman for Maryland chief medical examiner, said the woman's death is being investigated, but he couldn't provide any details. At this point, he said, it is a routine investigation.
