5. "why should they wait"

Why should they "help"? What would that "help" entail? Why would they value human life--a scourge to all other life on earth--above the millions of species we threaten? What if they viewed natural planetary evolution as vital for diversity, and are simply waiting for the earth to further evolve from a human induced bottleneck, which will inevitably lead to further evolution?

The entire notion of aliens helping humans is a bit self-involved and as irrational as thinking some other intelligent life in the universe with FTL travel cares enough to waste resources on "saving" us from ourselves.
