... but it's still a "done deal".

I doubt if some little fence is being built to withstand any invasion by Syrian military. I'd guess its purpose is to stop or control any flow of Syrian refugees fleeing the strife in the other part of Syria.

That part of the Golan Heights seems pretty well populated by Israeli settlements, towns, even ski resorts, and I'd guess Israel is ignoring any "eviction notice" that Syria has filed with whoever might enforce "international law" in this case. Israel is probably not disposed to return it to Syria unless some force can re-acquire the territory. By war.

Scootaloo, do you envision a court in the Hague finding for Assad, and convincing Israel to remove themselves from the Golan Heights territory? How can this play out? Blue-helmeted enforcers?

I think, in the case of this disputed territory, Syria has "reaped the whirlwind".
