7. Did not get my shot and
I've had the flu twice already! Seriously, the week I was scheduled to go in for my shot I came down with the flu, and it was really bad, aches and chills and fever up and down, and this went on for almost two weeks. Then when I thought it was finally over with I went out for some tennis practice, and got a bit sweaty in the cool weather. Bam! Right back to bed with a fever. Fortunately it didn't last long and I'm now flu free (I think) for almost a week. I've been told to wait two weeks and then get the flu shot, which I most certainly will. And please don't tell anyone if they have had the flu they can't get it again and don't bother getting the shot. This flu is really ugly; my only good news is I didn't get the stomach portion. First night with the second attack I felt like I was going to throw up and I took a dose of milk of magnesia and that calmed down my stomach.
What to take if you get the flu? After various attempts that went nowhere, on the advice of a physician I settled on 800 milligram Ibuprofen and a decongestant. Bed rest is really about it.
Get your flu shot! This is nasty.
