In reply to the discussion: Sen. Graham: ‘Grover is Wrong… I will Violate the Pledge’ (if Entitlement Reforms) [View all]bucolic_frolic
(43,128 posts)6. Grover was wrong from day one
The pledge would have carried more weight if it were
to spend wisely, on long term public investments, to
fiercely root out waste and abuse ....
in other words, to get good value for the American People
not to simply starve the government for the sake of low taxes
Grover was wrong, Grover is wrong
Sometimes spending is good, beneficial. Sometimes
tax hikes are good if they're for an important purpose
Grover would carry more weight if the pledge were about
spending frugally, and not operating in the red
It would have kept a reign on GW Bush's borrowing for
wars and millionaire tax cuts
Maybe Grover should have focused on Greenspan

Obviously, if the President has all the cards, it's time to give Graham some.

Graham: you can't call it a "violation" unless you're still subject to Grover as authority.

What nonsense, saying that "reducing deductions" is different than raising taxes.

Ladylips Lindsey is such a flip-flopping waffler. I see his name on the pledge right here.
