11. Prop 37 is a good idea, but its unfair to the markets

Prop 37 requires the food markets to label the produce GMO.
That rang unfair to me.

Big supermarkets like Safeway & Target could handle the cost but what about all the small mom&pop shops, convenience stores and everywhere else that carries produce?
What about schools, food trucks, open markets, etc...

Why wasn't the proposition worded such that the farm that uses the GMO product be responsible?

Most, not all produce, have some sort of label now identifying what it is, such as different types of apples, or melons.
Whomever makes those labels should be required to include GMO if applicable.

Placing the responsibility solely on the market doesn't make sense.
Ultimately, a company like Safeway will just force the supplier to do it anyway.
Convenience stores don't generally have that kind of push over there suppliers.
