Bain Capital claims to rehabilitate failing firms by buying them out and restructuring them to profitability before selling them, but too often, private equity firms engage in the corporate equivalent of house flipping. They buy them; they tell them to take on debt, a large percentage of which is executive bonuses and salaries; they sell the enterprise after the last checks roll in to their accounts in the Caymans. House flipping, except with entire corporations and labor forces of people.
