...furthermore, from what I can find the people you are referencing were grossly irresponsible and approached the ocean despite knowing that a tsunami was imminent. Only one person on the West Coast appears to have died: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/03/14/dustin-weber-tsunami-dead_n_835236.html - Feel bad for his family, but his death was a result of his own folly.

I believe there is a Fort Point in California. The NH reference may be a typo/mistake.
