He had Congestive Heart Failure. He was a year short of having medicare kick in.
He had his working hours shortened to three days a week because of the recession.
He lived with and supported his sister.
He could not afford health insurance.
When his sister wanted to call an ambulance he said no, because he couldn't afford it
He died in his bed at home, temporarily saving his sister from being thrown out in the street by creditors that he knew he would have if he had gone to the hospital.
Yes, people die at home without insurance.
People are making life and death choices because of poverty and no insurance.
