1. Prediction, and please tell me I'm wrong

I do believe that the Republican money folks are conceding the Presidential election. Too many rounds have been fired into too many feet (self inflicted). Whether this election turns into a Ducakus landslide or a Bush squeaker, should the Republicans lose the there will be a purge as large as the "Night of the Long Knives", the only difference will be the amount of actual blood spilled. Traditional Republicans will be driven out of the party for being too far left to be real Republicans. The Tea Party will become the Republican Party, and they have the money men to make it so. These purged Republicans will probably either reluctantly become Democrats, resulting in that party taking the middle ground even more firmly, or struggle along as independents until the money men chase them out of office. The Republican Party will become, in fact, fascist.

Please tell me this scenario is wrong, and how. I don't want to be right.

By the by, I agree with your tag line. With the Tea Party harking back to a mythic past, whipping up the rank and file with xenophobia, hatred of migrants, fear, hate, and envy, scapegoating of ethnic groups, anti-liberalism, anti-unionism, has all the hallmarks of the three fascist nations, Spain, Italy, and Germany.
