Todd Akin was just trying to educate the public about the differences between forcible and elective rape. Forced rape is very rare and resulting pregnacies are even more rare. However, when women and children electively choose to be raped, pregnancy and illness may result and the rapee must accept responsibility here.

It's a shame Mr. Akin is leaving the race. He needs to be out there front and center educating the public and mobilizing his base. It's good when Republicans like Mr. Akin get to voice their um....interesting...and, um....medically informed...opinions.
