Romney Aide: Obama Pursues ‘Different World View’ [View all]

Mitt Romney’s top foreign-policy adviser charged that President Barack Obama has moved national-security strategy out of its traditional bipartisan mainstream to pursue “a different world view.”

Richard Williamson, a former White House and State Department official in past Republican administrations, said the president has moved away from the belief in “peace through strength” that has prevailed in American national-security thinking in recent decades.

In an interview on “DC Bureau,” The Wall Street Journal’s online politics show, Mr. Williamson asserted: “President Obama has a different world view…where we depend on multilateralism and where we defer to international law. It’s a different fundamental approach.”

In the interview, Mr. Williamson also reiterated previous warnings from Mr. Romney, the presumptive Republican nominee, that he is prepared to crack down harder on China. “Romney is making it clear that If you don’t get your act together, if you don’t’ stop cheating, if you don’t stop doing things that take away jobs from Americans, there will be consequences.”
