If people are not finding jobs in the "private sector" then we need to establish public works projects, free colleges, and free vocational training. It's that simple. It's social justice.
A single payer health plan and a more generous publicly funded universal retirement system would make the financial management of both public and private institutions much less complicated.
Many of the problems at CCSF are the result of unsound management, but most are a consequence of our disintegrating democracy.
The very wealthy and politically powerful among us seek to keep the rest of us hungry, fearful and ignorant. A compliant workforce is important to the plutocracy, social justice is not. Those who would complain about low pay and intolerable working conditions are directly threatened with homelessness and hunger. Put up with crap, or starve. Many of our most wealthy already live as the privileged lords in a kingdom of serfs, and yet this is not enough for them. They correctly surmise that an educated middle class is a direct threat to their own unjust wealth and power and thus they seek to eliminate it.
