They'd be much happier if they grow up. Many no doubt claim to be born-again Christians but they are not bearing any fruit from it. All the same names have played out in the GOP all of these years since then:
In the late 1970s, Wallace announced that he was a born-again Christian and apologized to black civil rights leaders for his earlier segregationist positions. He said that while he had once sought power and glory, he realized he needed to seek love and forgiveness. In 1979, Wallace said of his stand in the schoolhouse door: "I was wrong. Those days are over, and they ought to be over."

I've read his accounts how his caregivers took care of him after the shooting. They were mostly black and he was struck their ability to look beyond his skin color and show him kindness. We've gone backwards in this country and I lay it at the feet of hate radio and television, not an inherited, or race-based mentality. It is not ingrained, it is taught, it is learned. People who indulge themselves with such beliefs are taking a luxury against the realities of life. When times are hard, one must be open to change and look at the world with new eyes. just as George Wallace did.
