a couple hundred people into a spay/neuter clinic that the neighbors run under vet and tech supervision, at no cost to pet owners. They learn co-operation, self-sufficiency, generate community, come out with more respect for each other. And their pets. I have been working on how to do that in other areas.

I did go a few years ago. Nice folks, and I suspect we agree on some things, but they seemed a bit entrenched, holding on to some past they think is coming back. Seems when people get like that it takes a big world or political disaster, but I have things to do until then.
