My mom's whole side of the family - 8 kids and 14 grandkids, all have digestive problems. All of us - of all ages from 13 to 70 - just starting getting things like IBS, severe heartburn, GERD within the last 5-8 years or so. If it was a genetic thing you'd think that as the people in the family got to a certain age they would just develop it (like, "oh, everyone in our family gets GERD in their 50's) but no, it was everyone getting it concurrently. My mom and her siblings ate all organic stuff growing up (her parents grew nearly all their own food) and had zero digestive issues. My mom doesn't even remember getting tummy aches save when she ate a bunch of underripe crab apples on a dare.
