In reply to the discussion: Students bully school bus monitor, post video on YouTube [View all]suffragette
(12,232 posts)They were clearly trying to provoke her to respond verbally and/or physically and if they had succeeded, her response would likely have been the only part of the video posted.
And their attempts to do so escalated as the video went on, including vicious comments on her weight, economic status, and threats to stab her and attack her at her home.
They are the issue and their behavior is what needs to be addressed. At minimum, they should be assigned to closely supervised community service which they should have to do at separate places.
This made me think to something I saw a couple of years ago which was in direct contrast of this.
I had sat down on a bench in Occidental Square to check my bus schedule. It was mid morning and a bit after New Years. There were quite a few people there though it was not crowded and some of them were clearly homeless. A family of a dad, mom and two kids arrived and the parents handed the children boxed meals. The children then asked the men on benches if they would like a boxed lunch, then gave them to the men. I had the sense this was something they did at least yearly and they clearly had given thought to doing this in a manner which included dignity and choice.
