it's been years since it happened, but it was the first dog i had, and the first loss, and i took it HARD. i was well on my way to an epic depression over it.

it was Thanksgiving weekend and we'd left him with a pet sitter. She didn't latch the gate and he escaped. while he was missing i put up flyers with his picture and my phone # -- a woman called and said she didn't find my dog...but that she had a dog who looked just like him, and he needed a home b/c his owner was going into an assisted living facility.

total kismet. i really needed him, and he really me.
