24. The (tuition + living costs) to wages ratio is much higher today than in the '60s, I agree.

And, these loans are more onerous than those offered in my time of need ('60s). The students who get those loans are adults who have signed contracts that have no escape clauses. Bankruptcy will not erase these loans. More than ever, getting a college education is a business decision if you get student loans. Then, you must get a high-money earning degree, one that gets you into the front door of a big money-making company. V. Foxx (Republican) is telling us in blunt language how the GOP feels about student loans. If you get in over your head, there will be no relief. My two daughters knew that I paid my own way, so they showed me that they could also. Both began in 1990. One took 3 years, and the other took 8 years. They accumulated no debt. Now, their degrees are paying them and no bankers. I know everyone can't do it. But, it begins with the resolve NOT to get student loans.
