Those Panhandle hailstorms are legendary, as evidenced by the "hail-bergs" floating around Amarillo (and PanTex) the other day.
Biggest hailstone I ever saw was in the freezer of some people I knew at Ropesville, near Lubbock. It was the size of a basketball. We used to tease them about which one of the kids they sent out to fetch it. They said, "All of them, one at a time."
