17. In the next 20 years? Close to no chance at all.


Demographics are moving away from Republicans. If Democrats can keep from turning on each other we will have a distinct advantage in 10 years or so. We could have a strong majority another 10 years after that and then maybe we can look at a health care system that makes sense.

Until then there isn't much hope for a national single payer plan. Maybe Vermont's system will catch on and we can have some state single payer plans to help show the rest of the nation how these things work. Maybe.
