22. It's called "empathy."

This hurts people because they can imagine the terror the victim felt, they can imagine the horror the parents are going through, and they can apply those things to their own lives. Empathy offers deep perspective about one's own life, and tradgedies such as this cut deep, for people can see themselves experiencing similar events.

It is not about a desire to hate; rather it is about the need to understand, and prevent, if possible, future tradgedies which could, in fact, hit closer to home.

It is about personal and social growth, maturity and wisdom.
