In 2004, she had the choice of a man who smeared her father in a pretty sick way or a man who had been a good friend and kind to her father. If you read McCain's book on his Senate career that covers his time on the POW/MIA hearings, McCain pretty much admits that Kerry kept McCain from completely losing it several times - in addition to doing an excellent job running the committee.

I suspect that Megan McCain did not have strong ideological positions - in which case, that vote may not have been the least bit difficult. She had good reason to dislike Bush and like Kerry.
