36. the political bi-polar disorder is media related, IMnot-veryHO

Dec 2013

Where are most people getting their info? Most non-DUers who are not interested in politics get it from teevee or headlines dumped in their lap when they go to their yahoo mail, or in disconnected pieces picked up at work, or--wholesale lies hammered into their heads at the local mega-church.

So as much as democratic-liberal-progressive ideas resonate with most people, their idea of real politik in the public square is vague.

Hell, even DU regulars know we don't understand all of the issues---national and international situations, full contexts, historical backgrounds, impacts, ramifications and behind the scenes gamesmanship.

How much more confusing is it for people who have no concept that the blatant propaganda that insists it's news has been sold to the richest corporate repuke conservatives in the world?

Or people who know it's lies but don't know where to turn for truth? Most people I know have no concept of who owns the media corporations and how the reich wing cranks up social conservative fear and hate as a smokescreen for their criminality. They know something's wrong but are too overwhelmed and absorbed in their day to day lives to examine simplistic received "wisdom", like "I don't like those lazy poor people who could work but would rather mooch off me."

Most of the people I know have no concept of the vast right wing conspiracy (which Hilary got pilloried for naming decades ago) thriving in the highest levels of multi-national corporate profiteering.

I thought it was Edward Snowden? zappaman Dec 2013 #1
