Clinton won the showdown with the Republicans in 1995, and the Republicans held a much stronger hand back then. They had both the House and Senate and the sense of a mandate after winning the 1994 elections in crushing fashion.
Here the GOP has only one branch of Congress, and by any measure lost the last election. This shutdown will be their fault, and we have to make sure the public knows it.
