It's pretty clear because he was a total cock, who would get in anyone and everyones face with an argument about anything.
I doubt people cared about his politics at Penn, just him being a total argumentative cock, for whom politics was all that existed, no one wants to hang around someone like that at college, whether they are conservative or liberal.
