they believe in, from the African women standing up to multinational oil companies to the FEMEN protesters - what is said here or on twitter or anywhere else criticizing them is meaningless, imo. People will freak out and twist anything into something nasty in almost any situation they can't control, it is what it is. I think it's great that you do care so much about it all and completely understand why it seems confusing. For me though, it isn't. Not at all.
