(31,631 posts)A 40 year old black woman - recently married for the first time in April.
You know - as good as my life is - I'm a big concerned about ohhhh - silly little things - like not getting sent to the back of the bus and having to go on a blind date with Jim Crow even though I'm married.
I worry about my mother falling into the health care donut hole in a few years.
I worry that my nephews will go on vacay to Florida and get their heads blown off.
I worry about a lot things - and if others would stop worrying about 2014 or 2016 we might be able to get at least the shit that IMPACTS black folks wrapped up WHILE we have a black President.
I've seen a few posts about Bill Clinton's approach on DOMA. And I agree with him. And he should be ashamed of himself for his approach in the 1990's. But I would hate to have to NOT do something to SECURE my civil rights and liberties because if we make sure black women can still vote in 2016 it might mean that we don't get to have Hillary for President. WilliamPitt - I love what you right and I know you are teasing . . .
But that man in my avatar made things just a little bit better for people in America - wouldn't you agree?
As did LBJ?
And Obama could make sure those things just get BETTER instead of going away if we could keep our eyes on an attainable prize.
