It is knowing that improving background checks alone won't be enough that justifies infringments on the people. The people will still be able to enjoy their rights for self-defense, collecting, shooting, hunting etc., but their choices will be a bit more limited, and they'll be a bit more inconvenienced.
Such things will impact everyone. For the common good.
