...and can't they be brought to bear in these cases.

Let's face it, we tell the telephone companies they can't stay in business unless they agree to turn over our personal information to the government at the whim of any mid-level gopher in some security role.

Why not say - look, we're not going to tell you who you have to sell to because that's unAmerican. But we are going to tell you that if you choose to unilaterally decide to blacklist specific law enforcement agencies for any reason (other than they don't pay their bills)...well, if you want to do that OK - but then you're not going to be allowed to sell to ANY governmental agency at any level. It only seems fair that if you decide that some parts of the government aren't going to have access to your wonderful products, well then...no government agency should. It's only fair, no?

Draconian sure but at some point you have to fight bullets with logic, eh ?
