is tethered and in many cases exposed. Paralysis occurs below the exposure.

The degree of paralysis varies. Usually in a young child like that the spinal cord was exposed at birth. Surgery is performed to cover the cord. Children are often able to walk with braces.

I imagine getting in and out of the chair is overwhelming to the little girl. I guess if necessary, they could have transferred her to another chair, for the inspection, but in this little girl's mind her chair is part of her body. So, she would feel violated even if it didn't hurt.

I also assume she is afraid of the agents.
