To keep other nuisance birds away, you can get an ornament that just has the two simulated owl eyes and nothing else. That is just as effective as having a mock-up of the entire bird.
The birds are majestic perched or in flight. But their bodies aren't as big as they look. The wings and features are very deceptive. I can easily see how the bird fit through the cracks of the grille. I assume it could have been injured or else would have gotten out when the car was stopped. But it seemed to be moving well when rescued. I'm sure it will be nursed back and released into the wild.
