(2,479 posts)In no way says this guy doesn't have back problems. Back pain is one of the injuries that people always dismiss as scamming, unless you're piled up on the ground in a heap, not even able to move. They are real--I had a temporary injury ones, that thank God improved where I just pinched something. It was undiagnosed, as are most of my injuries, since I can't really afford to go to the doctor. But I know my pain was real, and that I had to nearly drag one of my legs along, and there is no way I could work. I didn't get any compensation, but I think people seem to dismiss all people with back problems as "slackers," or "fakers." They aren't.
So many people seem to be on this site now, infiltrating, trying to get members of the DU to feel the envy of benefits receivers. Sucks. I have no doubt a "few" are scamming. It happens. But the real argument they are trying to make, that we need to get rid of all SS insurance, disability or whatever, because one or two out of a thousand are scamming? Ridiculous. Figure out how to stop it, but don't get rid of it.
