blood samples show that indeed celiac disease has become far more common than it used to be. Since so many people have discovered they have celiac, or some other type of gluten intolerance, and feel much better after going gluten free, other people have adopted the gluten-free diet with the hope that they too will feel better, lose weight (without any basis for that, however), etc.
