9. Lincoln thought the Gettysburg Address was a failure after he gave it.

So yeah, these things do take time.

I was always impressed by Clinton's "There is nothing wrong with America that cannot be fixed by what is right with America" quote from his 1st Innaugural, but truth be told, that quote didn't stand out when I first heard the address live.
