If there was a confrontation, it would be interesting to see how the J-10's performance matches the F-15. Still, I don't think it would be the end of the world. Greek and Turkish fighters often clashed over disputed islands and it never led to an all out war. If you look at statistics, you'll see that China would probably consider it's trade relationship with Japan more important than the Senkakus. Both countries have far too much to lose. Japan purchased the islands and they are Japanese territory, whether China likes it or not. The Chinese will come off second best internationally if there is any incident.
