It doesn't have to be easy. Some of the best moments are when after a lot of discussions and tears the family comes together in understanding. Just think if you had just gone along with all the BS that was Vietnam your dad wouldn't have grown the way he did. That is a good thing for both of you. Good on you for sticking to your beliefs and good on him for being able to understand even if it took a lot of time.
