In reply to the discussion: open carrying store clerks: would that have freaked anyone out? [View all]Butterbean
(1,014 posts)10. May I ask where you live? I am wondering if
it's regional/cultural. The area where I live now is very blue/liberal, and open carry isn't common at all. However, where I was raised and have lived most of my life before here is deep red and guns are very much a part of the scenery. It is not uncommon at all to hear gunshots in the distance when we go back home to visit, because there are so many hunters out and about (rural SC).

I thought about that a couple of times, too (getting caught in the crossfire)

Huh. I'd be impressed with the desire to protect themselves (and presumeably their customers).

I would leave. Most gun cultists I've known who carried were mean, callous, bigots.

No, it wouldn't bother me at all. I would understand it, esp under those circumstances.

There was a convenience store right off I-75 close to where I lived where the clerks were armed

WOW. Never seen that. The father and son sold the store I think 4 years ago, btw.

At the time, concealed carry permits were very hard to get; open carry was generally legal
