My friend who just had a baby girl had a FB interaction with comments on how kids are growing up so fast and it is hard to control them.
My boys grew up in the 70s and 80s...My husband and I were stricter. there were curfews, no cars. no smoking or drinking . Marks in school had to be kept up. they worked after school as well. - no car- .. they biked or we drove them.
Thew were taught respect, consideration and honesty when they were young. My husband and I decided to be parents and this made us aware of their friends and what was happening in school.
I used to know people in Ohio a few years ago...in the Eastern part near Pittsburgh. I have to say that many parents were poor parents, in money and in parenting skills. Football was the be all and end all. Many kids got in trouble with the law and into drugs. I realized that it would never change. This a very big social issue.
