LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – A strong Alaska earthquake today 2013 has been felt in Canada. The Alaska earthquake today Saturday, January 05, 2013 has prompted a series of major quakes, the most recent shortly after 3:28 am local time. No injures have yet to be reported by local news.

Officials tell news that a 5.1 magnitude Alaska earthquake today struck in the predawn morning hours. The quake, however, had virtually no depth. USGS indicates to news that the quake was only fifty-six miles west of Craig. The quake as also one hundred seventy-nine miles west of Prince Rupert, Canada. Officials tell news that the quake was two hundred eleven miles south of Juneau, Alaska and roughly the same distance from Terrace, Canada.

This is the latest in a series of strong Alaska earthquakes since last night. A 4.5 magnitude quake struck False Pass over night. A 4.5 and 4.7 magnitude quake struck Craig and Port Alexander this morning as well, USGS indicates to news.

But the strongest quake was a 7.5 magnitude quake. That quake erupted minutes before midnight. Officials tell news that the quake had virtually no depth. With nearly the same epicenter, the quake was only six miles below the earth’s surface. The quake was sixty-three miles west of Craig, one hundred eighty-eighty miles west of Prince Rupet and roughly two hundred miles from Juneau and Terrace.
